U.S. Benefits |
Gilead offers a Total Rewards package consisting of competitive salary programs that include an all-employee bonus plan and eligibility for all employees in our stock option plan, comprehensive benefits, an outstanding work environment, and career development opportunities. We benchmark ourselves against other leading biotechnology and pharmaceutical companies each year to maintain a competitive Total Rewards package, ensuring that we continue to reward employees for superior company and individual performance. Health BenefitsAll regular U.S. employees working 30 hours or more per week and their families, as well as domestic partners, are eligible for coverage. The company offers rich medical plans with several coverage options – both preferred and exclusive provider networks – and minimal out-of-pocket costs. All plans include a discount mail-order drug program. We offer vision care and a dental plan that includes generous coverage for preventive, routine, major restorative and orthodontia care. We also offer life, accidental death and dismemberment, and business travel accident insurance coverage. Finally, Gilead offers health and dependent care reimbursement programs that allow employees to set aside a portion of their salary on a pre-tax basis to pay for qualified health and dependent care expenses. Employee Stock Option PlanAll regular employees at every level are eligible for stock options at the time of hire and annually based on performance. Options will vest 20 percent on the first anniversary of the grant and then five percent per quarter until fully vested. Employees can potentially receive above market annual grants if their performance merits it. Employee Stock Purchase Plan (ESPP)All regular employees are eligible to enroll in the employee stock purchase plan at the beginning of the first quarter following their hire date. Through payroll deductions, employees may choose to have up to 15 percent of their after-tax pay withheld (up to IRS maximum) to purchase company stock at a discount. Each offering period is two years long, and one begins every January 1 and July 1. The purchase price of ESPP stock is determined at each purchase date during the two year offering period and is calculated as 85 percent of the lower of the closing price on either the first day of the offering period or the actual purchase date. Stock is purchased for distribution to employees on two dates each year, June 30 and December 31. Employee Incentive ProgramsThe annual All-Employee Bonus Plan supports our belief that employees at all levels should share in the company’s success and be rewarded for their contributions. Bonuses are based on achieving a combination of individual and corporate goals that are determined at the beginning of each year. Gilead supports another important employee incentive program called Values at Work. This program is intended to reward exceptional accomplishments and individuals who truly embody one or more of our core values: integrity, accountability, excellence and teamwork. 401(k)All regular employees are eligible to participate in the Gilead 401(k) plan managed by Fidelity Investments and may enroll at the time of hire. Employees may invest up to 60 percent of their salary on a pre-tax basis (up to IRS maximum). Gilead will match 50 percent of salary your defer, up to $5,000 per year. All company contributions vest immediately.
