John F. Cogan, PhD

Senior Fellow, Hoover Institution, Stanford University

Dr. Cogan joined Gilead's Board of Directors in 2005. He is currently the Leonard and Shirley Ely Senior Fellow at the Hoover Institution and Professor of Public Policy at Stanford University, where his research focuses on U.S. budget and fiscal policy, social security and healthcare.

Dr. Cogan has held a number of positions in the U.S. government, including Assistant Secretary for Policy in the U.S. Department of Labor and Associate Director and Deputy Director in the U.S. Office of Management and Budget (OMB). Dr. Cogan is currently a director of Monaco Coach Corporation, Venture Lending and Leasing Inc., and a trustee of the Charles Schwab Family of Funds.
