Etienne F. Davignon

Mr. Davignon joined Gilead's Board of Directors in 1990. He is currently Vice-Chairman of Suez-Tractebel and previously served as Chairman of Société Générale de Belgique, a diversified financial and industrial company.

Mr. Davignon is Chairman of Recticel, CMB and SN Air Holding and a director of Suez and Sofina.

Mr. Davignon has served as the European Community's (EC) Commissioner for Industry and International Markets and as the EC's Vice President for Research, Industry and Energy Policies.
