John W. Madigan

Retired Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, Tribune Company

Mr. Madigan joined Gilead's Board of Directors in 2005. He is the retired Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Tribune Company, a director and former chairman of the Robert R. McCormick Foundation and a director at Boise Cascade.

Mr. Madigan is also a former member of the Defense Business Board of the Department of Defense, an advisor to Madison Dearborn Partners and a director and former chairman of The Chicago Counsel on Global Affairs. He serves as a trustee of Northwestern University, Rush University Medical Center and the Paley Center for Media in New York.

Mr. Madigan is a member of the Council on Foreign Relations in New York, a member and former chairman of The Commercial Club of Chicago and a director of the Renaissance Schools Fund.
