Community

Gilead's mission is to discover, develop and commercialize therapies that will improve the lives of patients with life-threatening illnesses around the world. And we strive to do much more. Our commitment extends to being an exemplary corporate citizen and contributing to the well-being of the communities to which we belong.

A critical element of our work is ensuring that patients across the globe have access to the medications they need to be healthy, regardless of ability to pay.

  • In the United States, our patient assistance and co-pay programs help make Gilead therapies affordable and accessible for uninsured and under-insured individuals.
  • In developing countries, the Gilead Access Program provides Viread® and Truvada® at substantially reduced prices in 132 low- and lower middle-income countries hardest hit by HIV/AIDS – and today, one out of five people in developing countries receiving HIV therapy are receiving Gilead medicines.

Gilead is also helping to develop and support programs that meet the needs of underserved communities, particularly where health disparities exist. In the field of HIV, we are committed to working with partner organizations to increase access to HIV testing, help ensure people know their status and to link them with effective treatment and prevention services.

Charitable giving is another important component of our community support. Through both the Gilead Foundation and direct corporate giving, we provide grants to organizations in the United States and around the world on the front lines of improving health among underserved populations.

As individuals, each of us at Gilead takes seriously our responsibility to help build strong communities. Gilead employees regularly volunteer and engage with local service and charitable organizations.
