Corporate Responsibility |
Gilead’s mission is to discover, develop and commercialize therapies that will improve the lives of patients with life-threatening illnesses around the world. With more than 10 marketed products benefiting hundreds of thousands of people and a pipeline of late-stage drug candidates, we are putting this mission into motion. But we strive to do much more than make market-leading therapies. Our commitment extends to being an exemplary corporate citizen, contributing to the well-being of the communities to which we belong. Healthcare GrantsGilead provides charitable contributions to a broad range of non-profit organizations. If your organization is interested in applying for a healthcare grant, please review the submission process and apply online. Gilead FoundationEstablished in 2005, the Gilead Foundation is a non-profit organization that seeks to improve access to healthcare for people worldwide. To date, our Foundation has given more than $8 million in grants to expand access to HIV education, outreach, prevention and treatment across the United States and around the world. Supporting Patient AccessGilead is committed to ensuring that a drug’s price is never a barrier to access. We support a number of programs that help ensure patients who need our therapies have access to them. Patient Access in the United StatesGilead supports a number of programs for eligible patients in the United States who do not have insurance, are underinsured or who otherwise need financial assistance. These programs include U.S. Advancing AccessTM, Atripla® Patient Assistance Program and GileadTMSolutions. Gilead Access ProgramGilead recognizes the tremendous need for Access in the Developing World. The Gilead Access Program works to provide our HIV drugs at reduced prices in resource-limited countries where the AIDS epidemic has hit hardest, as well as treatment for Leishmaniasis. Employees Giving BackAt Gilead, our more than 2,700 employees enthusiastically support dozens of local fund- and awareness-raising projects. Many of our offices participate in local food and gift drives during the holiday season, collecting food and toys for families in need. We are very proud of our partnerships with local community organizations that work to improve the lives of families in areas where we live and work. We also support youth educational activities. Each summer we sponsor an internship program for outstanding high school students with an interest in careers in medicine or the life sciences. Working with Patient AdvocatesOur interest in helping patients is not confined to the lab or the conference room. We work closely with patient advocacy groups to better understand their needs and concerns. Our clinicians routinely donate their services to treat patients and our employees participate in annual events such as local walks, marathons and bicycle rides to raise money for non-profit healthcare organizations. In addition, we provide unrestricted educational grants to support the treatment education efforts of third-party patient support organizations. Business ConductAt Gilead, we are committed to maintaining the highest legal and ethical standards of business conduct. Adherence to such high standards reflects our business practices and principles and supports our mission of advancing patient care. |
