Gilead

Respiratory

Gilead has expertise in developing new and innovative treatments for respiratory diseases. The company invented Tamiflu®, which is indicated for the prevention and treatment of influenza. F. Hoffmann-La Roche commercializes Tamiflu on a worldwide basis.

Gilead is developing treatments for the treatment of cystic fibrosis (CF), a chronic respiratory disease that renders patients vulnerable to serious lung infections and significantly shortens life expectancy.

Following our acquisition of Corus Pharma, Inc. in 2006, we obtained rights to aztreonam lysine for inhalation, a novel antibiotic with activity against the type of bacteria - Pseudomonas aeruginosa - that is the single greatest cause of morbidity and mortality among CF patients. Aztreonam lysine for inhalation is delivered through a novel inhalation device, the eFlow® Electronic Nebulizer, which was developed by PARI GmbH.
