Kavita Davada Finds Her Way to Help Make the World a Healthier Place

Q: What drew you to your field and how did you come to work at Gilead?

I have more than 10 years of experience in the administration and executive assistant field. My previous role was in the aviation sector, and after some time, I wanted to be part of a company doing really meaningful work. I first joined Gilead as contractor, and then had the opportunity to apply for a full-time employee role.

Q: Why did you choose Gilead?

I wanted to be part of an organization that helps people and has strong values. I may not be working in the labs, but I know I am part of something that is making the world a healthier place. It was also important to work with colleagues who share the same principles that are close to my heart, including integrity, inclusion, teamwork, accountability and excellence – which are Gilead’s Core Values.

Q: What makes you feel valued as an employee?

Knowing that I am part of a team that encourages me to be my best and always listens. Gilead also makes sure that employees are recognized and rewarded for exceptional accomplishments, including with a program through which employees can nominate their peers for awards. I have received three and am so proud to showcase my certificates at my desk.

Q: How would you describe the opportunities for career growth at Gilead?

There are so many opportunities for motivated employees. There are both formal and informal mentorship opportunities for employees to help form and achieve their career development goals and share experience and knowledge with one another. This type of coaching is invaluable when thinking about how to get to the next step in your career.

Q: What have you gained personally from your experience at Gilead?

First, I’ve gained a tremendous amount of confidence. Prior to joining Gilead, I was usually the “quiet one” or the “shy one” to speak up. But with great leadership from my manager and colleagues, who continuously support and encourage me, I feel comfortable speaking up and sharing my voice.
