Sherrie Musick Finds Purpose in Her Role Helping Distribute Cell Therapies to Cancer Treatment Centers

Q: What drew you to your field and how did you come to work at Kite?

I heard of biotechnology when I was in high school and enjoyed the science so much that I got my degree in the field. After a long tenure in biotech, I took a two-year break and explored opportunities in other areas. CAR T-cell therapy and Kite’s new manufacturing facility in Frederick, Md., inspired me to rejoin the field.

Q: Why did you choose Kite?

I was looking for a company with a patient-first mindset, a culture that made me feel like part of a family and a product that I could really stand behind. Kite offered me all of these plus the opportunity to help design and build our new facility.

Q: How would you describe the company’s culture?

My leaders and coworkers make it clear they appreciate me as a person and what I bring to the table as an employee. There is always time to ask about how my family is doing before jumping into work. Being valued as a person makes me feel valued as an employee.

Q: Tell us about a time you really felt the impact of your work.

Any time we hear the stories of patients who have benefited from CAR T-cell therapy, I think we all collectively feel the impact of our work. Every decision we make and every action we take is impactful to people living with cancer, which is why I’m here. I come to work every day with the goal of being part of someone’s remission story. That makes it much more than “just a job.”
